October, November & December

Posted on December 4, 2021July 12, 2022 by sbuckleit

It's hard to believe how quickly the last few months have gone. I feel like I blinked, and suddenly I'm thirty and Hollis is two months old and Linden is three and Jordan is thirty-four (we accidentally clustered all our birthdays within a two month span). We soared through some of the highest highs of … Continue reading October, November & December →

June/July 2021

Some photographic highlights from June and July of this year: sleepy pets, breakfast in pajamas, blueberry picking, cousin time, a deer friend, a couch-full of wonderful women, and cute kids in meadows.

May 2021

Posted on May 7, 2021December 4, 2021 by sbuckleit

Starting off with a socially-distanced trip to Florida with Grandma and "Baba." This is how this day will always look in my memories: soft, pastel, centered on this small human's joy. Together in the vastness of the ocean Seashell collecting A most beloved Baba Sunset beach ballet Curve of the waves, light on his spine … Continue reading May 2021 →

A tour of the best writing, playing and day dreaming spot around: the treehouse. Today Indy and I are eating ice cream, dreaming up novel plots (he wants me to write a story about mermaids who slide up onto the sand at night to sleep), and pretending we’re pirates. On that note, I’d better run—or the little pirate might just throw me to the sharks! #authorsofinstagram #writersofinstagram #writinginspiration #writingspace Do you believe in magic? ✨ 🧶👀 Does everyone walk around secretly narrating their lives, or is that just us book obsessed folk? Alone or not—I’m very prone to viewing my life as a story. I’ll find myself thinking things like, “There’s no way I’ll die in a car crash on my way home tonight—that just wouldn’t make sense in the story.” (I might also be prone to #anxiousthoughts). Or I’ll read into things like rainbows and droughts, as if they’re literary symbols placed into the book of my life by some higher power (like the rainbow that we saw on our way to our first ultrasound while I was pregnant with L. It was storming, and I was bleeding and scared, and I’d already had one miscarriage, and then a rainbow peeked out from behind the clouds and I knew it’d be okay). The stages of doing laundry: procrastiknitting a #lyrasweater for Linden, sizing up the mountain of clothes to be folded, pushing it all onto the floor and going to bed instead, and finally, waking up early the next morning to fold it all with a cute buddy Writing about grief today on the blog—and the ways in which shared love and grief for a person can make the weight of it a little easier to bear. Find the link in my story! It's one of those days when I'd like to crawl right back into bed (and Minerva makes doing that look extra appealing). Theo the Bear is officially finished! Thanks to everyone who helped name him in my stories. This week, I’m sharing a blog post about where we’re at in the publication process and how my novel came to be. This shot was snapped the summer before I wrote my novel, right before I entered one of the hardest periods of my life (I elaborate more in the blog post, but be warned that I briefly mention pregnancy loss, so if this is sensitive for you, you might want to avoid!). Swipe to see how the crew has grown four years later ✨ [link to blog post in bio]
